Protection Order against dogs renewed

Blaby District Councillors have approved a proposal to renew an important Public Spaces Protection Order for specific areas of the district.

Under the order, dogs are required to be kept on a lead in cemeteries, graveyards, churchyards and burial grounds, or areas signed as "dog on a lead." The order also covers the car parks and play/picnic area at Fosse Meadows Country Park in Sharnford.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth has died aged 96, Buckingham Palace has confirmed

Buckingham Palace said in a statement: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow"

A Book of Condolences has been opened at Park House (Mon - Fri 9.00 am - 1.00 pm) and floral tributes may be placed in our Memorial Garden at Park House.

New Car Park Strategy approved by Councillors

Councillors have approved a new Car Park Strategy for Blaby District Council which will see the authority commit to its green agenda and cost neutral car parks.

Huncote Leisure Centre to reopen

Blaby District Council is delighted to announce that Huncote Leisure Centre is expected to reopen in October.

Councillors approved the long-term plans for the leisure centre at Council on Tuesday 19 July and agreed to the proposal that once remedial works for landfill gas on the site have been completed, the building will reopen.

Councillors have agreed to proactively work with other Leicestershire districts, the City Council and County Council on the distribution of new homes and employment land from Leicester.
